We identify as a woman-owned firm which is recognized by some entities to contribute toward Women/Minority Business Enterprises (WMBE) diversity objectives. We specialize in providing responsive, professional fire protection engineering and building code consulting solutions. We excel at fire protection engineering – it is all that we do.
Fire protection engineering spans multiple disciplines, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil. Drawing upon our knowledge and experience from around the world, and years of practice and service in the Pacific Northwest, we are experts with a breadth of understanding. We are effective team members, helping project teams to anticipate and respond to certain challenges and overcome or avoid them.
With over a decade invested in developing relationships with local authorities and design team members in Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond, Seattle, Tacoma and throughout the Puget Sound area, AEGIS Engineering has supported the design of new construction as well as adaptive re-use of existing buildings; serving both as a member of project teams and as a reviewer employed by the local jurisdiction. This blend of clientele enables us to respond effectively to fast-track projects in the design-build arena, while addressing the detailed level of scrutiny demanded with regard to fire protection and life safety code requirements. We also are proficient in reviewing project drawings with regard to significant fire protection and building code life safety requirements. We have applied performance-based design approaches and developed alternate means and methods strategies on a variety of projects.
Our thoughtful solutions and expertise, especially in the unique science of smoke control, have established AEGIS Engineering’s reputation among project teams and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) as a local leader in fire protection engineering. Serving repeat clients and AHJs in this manner has solidified the legacy that AEGIS Engineering has established and continues to build upon.
The mission of AEGIS Engineering is to deliver thoughtful, innovative fire protection engineering solutions that balance the needs of all stakeholders while supporting client success. We deliver this mission through the collaborative effort of our team of licensed professional fire protection engineers. AEGIS Engineering’s fire protection engineering team has a proven history of building strong working relationships with our clients and project teams, assisting in moving projects efficiently through the design and construction process. All consulting staff hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in fire protection engineering, equipping us with the knowledge and focus to identify and address specific code issues or project conditions, which we couple with our experience and expertise to maintain a broad perspective.
Our engineering team has experience in all phases of a project from concept and planning, to design and bid document development, on through construction, to final acceptance. We have provided fire protection engineering services and served as the Smoke Control Special Inspector with multiple jurisdictions as well as collaborating with project design teams and preparing third-party plan reviews. Our past experience includes both designing and analyzing performance-based design approaches on numerous projects. We have utilized computational fluid dynamics, network flow modeling, and partial-behavior modeling to predict smoke development, tenability thresholds, and occupant egress times.
AEGIS Engineering is committed to guiding and assisting our clients in achieving the required level of fire and life safety protection for their project, and overcoming unique challenges or conditions by developing creative and innovative solutions that balance the needs of stakeholders while supporting client success.
