AEGIS Engineering utilizes fire modeling and smoke modeling tools to support the design of smoke control systems, egress systems and alternative means and methods through the use of fire modeling, smoke modeling, and fire dynamics software, including computational fluid dynamics. Our analysis can include evaluation of the growth of a fire, smoke development and fire system activation, as well as consideration of wind effects. These tools are also utilized to support technical evaluations as well as analysis of anticipated performance of existing or new buildings and fire and life safety systems based on prescribed fire conditions.
Our fire protection engineers use these simulations and smoke and fire models, comparing fire alarm or sprinkler activation times to smoke and heat conditions, to assist in the development of an effective performance-based design including Alternate Means and Methods (AMM).
